Production has begun at the Absheron gas and condensate field in the Caspian Sea, offshore Azerbaijan. Absheron's first development phase has recently been completed by developers TotalEnergies and SOCAR, Azerbaijan's state oil company.
The field is operated by a joint venture between the two companies called Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum (JOCAP).
This initial phase of the project consists of the connection of a subsea production well to a new gas processing platform which is linked to SOCAR's Oil Rocks field.
Estimates indicate that Absheron's production capacity could reach four million cubic meters of gas nd 12,000 barrels of condensate per day.
