OMV Petrom has announced a new crude oil and natural gas discovery in the Oltenia and Mutenia regions of southern Romania. The company has found over 30 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe) of recoverable resources.
The amount is equivalent to OMV Petrom’s entire production in the first quarter of 2022.
The discovery was made in the Verguleasa exploration area, in the Oltenia region, where 20mmboe of crude oil were identified. In the Târgoviste block, crude oil reserves totalled approximately 6mmboe.
Finally, in the Târgu Jiu exploration block, 7mmboe of natural gas was found.
