Petrobras has announced a new discovery in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil. According to the operator, hydrocarbons were found at the 3BRSA-1387D-SPS exploratory well, which is part of the Aram block.
At a water depth of 1,979m, the well is 260km away from the shore of Santos. Drilling activities are currently ongoing, and the analysis of fluid samples will be used in the assessment of additional explorations in Aram and its capacity.
The Aram block is owned by Petrobras in March 2020 in a public auction held by Brazil’s National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). Petrobras holds an 80% operational stake in the project, while the remaining 20% are owned by CNPC.
