Worley has been contracted by Shell for a contract related to the Sparta project in the Gulf of Mexico, United States. Worley will be providing engineering services for the field’s floating unit.
The contractor will be responsible for engineering, design, procurement assistance, construction and commissioning services for Sparta’s front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design and follow-on stages.
Worley has already used a lightweight floating production unit design twice in Shell projects, and the company expects to implement it again in Sparta. Activities will be carried out from Houston and Metairie. Worley’s team in India will also support through the Global Integrated Delivery (GID) system.
Shell operates the Sparta field with a 51% stake, while Equinor holds the remaining 49%. A final investment decision (FID) is planned this year still.
