Wintershall Dea and partners Harbour Energy and Sapura OMV have announced a new oil discovery offshore Mexico. Located in the Sureste Basin, the discovery was made in Block 30, part of Wintershall Dea’s Kan exploration project.
The discovery is placed in the shallow water of the Cuenca Salina. Developers’ preliminary assessment calculates that it is likely to have between 200 and 300 million barrels of oil equivalent (mboe) in reserves.
Wintershall Dea, which holds a 40% share of the project, is the operator of Block 30, while Harbour Energy and Sapura OMV each hold 30% stakes.
