Innergex has recently announced financial close for its battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Chile. The company secured a non-recourse construction financing worth US$49.5m with SMBC.
The facility will be installed in Copiapó, Atacama region, next to Innergex’s existing San Andrés solar power plant. It will have a capacity of 35MW/175MWh.
The San Andrés energy storage project is expected to start operations in 2023. The 50MW/250MWh Salvador energy storage project, another BESS facility by Innergex in Chile, should also reach start-up in 2023.
