The Environmental Assessment Office of British Columbia (BCEAO) has granted the Ksi Lisims liquefied natural gas (LNG) project a readiness decision as part of its environmental assessment process. The project’s developers are the Nisga’a Nation, Rockies LNG and Western LNG.
This milestone concludes the initial phase of the process, allowing Ksi Lisims LNG to move to the application phase, which is expected to start by the developers until the end of the year.
The Ksi Lisims LNG project recently acquired an export licence from the Canada Energy Regulator which will be valid for 40 years.
The Ksi Lisims floating LNG export facility is planned to be the world’s largest, with capacity to produce 12 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG.
