Vattenfall and Metsähallitus have recently announced the creation of a joint venture (JV) dedicated to the construction and operation of a 1.3GW offshore wind farm in Finland. Named Korsnäs, the project’s value is estimated between €2bn and €3bn.
This will be Finland’s largest offshore wind farm to date, producing enough power to meet the demands of approximately 250,000 homes in the country. Production capacity is planned at 5TWh per year.
Operations are scheduled to start in the early 2030s.
