About this event
In Europe, carbon capture and storage has emerged as a critical component of the region's strategy to combat climate change and achieve ambitious emissions reduction goals. With a commitment to transitioning towards a low-carbon economy, European countries are actively exploring and implementing CCS technologies to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from industrial processes and power generation. This conference will shine a light on the projects in various stages of development, from early concept through to FID, and offer insight into the key elements to consider when building a well-rounded and effective business strategy to develop CCS. Europe has almost 200 CCUS projects in the pipeline, with 100+ incorporating storage in the North Sea, yet only 25 of these are operational, showing us the vast opportunity for development of this sector as well as hinting at the challenges and barriers at hand.
CCS Strategy Europe, brought to you by Carbon Economist and Gulf Energy Information, will explore how to overcome the barriers to successful development of CCS projects to make a meaningful contribution to the continent’s net-zero goal through understanding and developing a viable business strategy. Featuring a number of projects and their partners including Northern Lights, Peak Cluster, The Poseidon Project, Project Greensand and more, the conference will explore the good, the bad and the ugly of CCS project development, CCS Strategy Europe will bring together the emitters with the project developers and technology specialists to discuss how and why a long-term business strategy for carbon capture is required for the decarbonisation of industry.
