The EIC is glad to announce the 80th EIC Anniversary + Cocktail in Rio with Petrobras and Shell
Join the EIC’s South America in the 80th EIC Anniversary + Cocktail in Rio with Petrobras and Shell.
In the energy business since 1953, Petrobras has important presence in numerous countries and is globally recognised for its expertise in ultra-deep waters by using innovative technologies for exploration and production of oil and gas. Petrobras plays a significant role in Brazil's economy as it is responsible for a considerable portion of the country's oil and gas production. Aside from being primarily involved in the O&G up, mid and downstream segments, the company is enrolling in studies for the advancement of a number Offshore Wind initiatives in Brazil.
Operating over ten refineries, thousands of producing wells and a large portfolio of oil production platforms, Petrobras aims to reach a production of 2.6 million barrels of oil equivalent per day by ends of 2023, holding the spot of one of the largest energy integrated companies in Latin America and one of the world's leading oil and gas producers.
Shell, one of the world's largest energy companies, has a rich history dating back to 1907, when it became the first operator of a crude oil tanker, the SS Murex. Today, Shell is a global enterprise with a presence in more than 70 countries and a workforce of over 90,000 employees. Its business activities encompass various aspects of energy and petrochemicals, including exploration, production, refining, and marketing of oil and gas.
In 2022, Shell produced nearly 692 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe) through its joint ventures and subsidiaries worldwide. Despite its prominent position in the oil and gas industry, the company is now actively investing in and supporting renewable energy initiatives. Shell has set a goal to become a net-zero emissions company by 2050 and is currently investing in wind and solar power projects. In Brazil, through its joint venture Raízen, the company is also developing several initiatives related to biomass energy, positioning itself as one of the major players in the Brazilian energy sector.
