About this event

Event Address: 3413 North Sam Houston Pkwy W, Houston, TX, 77086

Following the elections in July 2018, the future energy minister for the new presidency, Rocío Nahle, confirmed that the energy reform will not be affected by the change in tenure.

The Mexican energy industry is growing into a prime area for international investment. The revitalization of the oil and gas industry is underway with numerous global players taking significant stakes in offshore exploration areas. Further opportunities are expected not only in the upstream sector. Mexico’s natural gas and crude oil pipeline network continues to expand. In fact, Mexico is on the verge of launching the nation’s very first natural gas storage tender. Cenegas (Mexico’s natural gas pipeline administrator) is expected to auction 10 billion cubic feet (bcf) of natural gas storage space in late 2018 or early 2019 as the country aims to boost energy security to create at least five days’ worth (45bcf) of natural gas storage.

Further opportunities exist for the power and renewables sectors. Mexico’s electric power sector launched its first auction in March 2016 and the project that were planned as a result are now reaching fruition. Numerous wind and solar facilities have been inaugurated in 2018 and many more are planned to keep up with the energy demands created by a rapidly expanding middle class.

This Regional Showcase will offer information on current and future Mexican supply chain and project opportunities with operators and contractors, and provide guidance on how to do business across the energy space in Mexico.
