Overseas Delegation to Peru
About this event
The EIC is organising an oil and gas trade delegation to Lima, Peru.
Delegates will have the opportunity to attend organised group meetings with key local players, as well as incorporating briefing meetings presented by qualified speakers with in-market experience and the opportunity to meet with local companies.
Why Peru?Peru is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and has become an attractive destination for investment in the energy sector. Important market-oriented reforms introduced over the past two decades and improved security have enabled the country to become an emerging hotspot for oil and gas activities. More than 70 E&P contracts are currently in place and operators invested close to US$2 billion in this segment in 2012.
Peru has 12.7 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves, making it an important gas province in the region. The majority of gas production comes from the Camisea gas fields, which are responsible for supplying the Peru LNG terminal, South America’s first LNG liquefaction plant. Major capital-intensive projects include the construction of a US$5 billion gas pipeline from Camisea to the coast and the US$3.5 upgrade of the Talara refinery, among other projects.
