About this event

The Government’s aim is to make fossil fuels with Carbon Capture and Storage as competitive as other low carbon sources of energy without subsidy by 2030. The Governments approach to developing CCS in the UK is currently focused on power sector applications. Greater commitment to CCS would provide more options for reducing carbon emissions in the 2020’s, both in the power sector and across industry.

The UK is well placed to become a world leader in CCS deployment, which would bring significant benefits both environmentally and commercially and yet, according to a recent government report, 42% of the UK population is not even aware of what CCS is and despite more than a decade of research, investment and government funding, there are still no commercial scale carbon storage plants ready for construction.
