Wärtsilä to fast track Bahamas power plant
13 March, 2019
EIC member company Wärtsilä has been contracted by utility Bahamas Power and Light to deliver a 132MW power plant to the Commonwealth of Bahamas.
The engine power plant has been ordered on a full engineering, procurement and construction basis.
Wärtsilä has committed to delivering the plant as a fast-track project to go into commercial operations this summer.
The plant will operate on seven high efficiency Wärtsilä 50 engines. It will be fuelled primarily with liquefied natural gas when it becomes locally available, but in the meantime will operate on conventional heavy fuel oil.
