Steam turbine contract for 1.3GW Vietnam power plant goes to MHPS

Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) has been awarded a steam turbine contract for the 1.3GW Nghi Son-2 thermal power project in Vietnam.
MHPS will supply two sets of steam turbine power generation systems for the project, operated by a special purpose company jointly financed by Marubeni and Korea Electric Power Company.
South Korea-based contractor Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction gave the contract to MHPS.
Nghi Son-2, which is currently under construction in the Nghi Son Economic Zone approximately 200km south of Hanoi, is scheduled to come online in 2022.
MHPS will also deliver two generators and ancillary equipment for the thermal project.
