Siemens to supply turbines to 4 Spanish wind farms
16 April, 2018
Wind power solutions provider Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been contracted by Gas Natural Fenosa Renovables to supply 166MW of wind turbines at four wind farm developments in Spain.
The company will commission 48 of its SG 3.4-132 turbines as well as operating and maintaining the four wind farms, which are due to be commissioned in mid-2019, for three years.
The blades for these turbines will be made at the Aoiz factory in Navarre, Spain and the Tangier factory in Morocco, while the nacelles will be produced at the Ágreda facility in Soria, Spain.
Siemens Gamesa's relationship with Gas Natural Fenosa dates back to 1997, since when the company has supplied the Spanish utility with more than 670MW of wind turbines.
These new orders reinforce the company's leading position in Spain, where Siemens Gamesa is the number-one OEM, having installed nearly 55% of the country's total installed base, equivalent to over 12,500 turbines nationwide.
