Siemens to digitalise UAE gas plant with cybersecurity upgrade
13 February, 2019
German engineering group Siemens has signed a deal to maintain and digitalise the 1.5GW Shuweihat S2 combined-cycle power plant in Abu Dhabi.
The contract is an extension of a multi-year maintenance service agreement with plant operators Shuweihat S2 Operation and Maintenance Company (S20&M).
As part of the agreement Siemens will deploy products from its Omnivise digital services portfolio including cybersecurity solutions to help improve asset visibility, reliability and availability.
The plant, which runs on Siemens’ SGT5-4000F gas turbines and SST5-6000IP steam turbines, will also benefit from Siemens’ integrated suite of advanced remote monitoring and diagnostics services.
Using advanced data-driven analytics, these services will provide a visualisation of plant asset data and key performance indictors for early detection of potential issues.
