Shell wins Chinese carbon-neutral LNG deal
22 June, 2020
Royal Dutch Shell has recently signed a deal to supply carbon-neutral liquefied natural gas cargoes to CNOOC Gas & Power Group.
According to Shell the shipments will be the first carbon-neutral LNG cargoes to the Chinese mainland and will include afforestation projects in Qinghai and Xinjiang provinces in China.
Two LNG cargoes will be auctioned through the Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Exchange by the company.
The shipments will provide enough energy to power nearly 300,000 homes for up to a year.
