Senvion lands turbine order for first Mediterranean offshore wind farm
05 March, 2019
German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion has won an order to supply turbines for the first offshore wind farm to be built off the Mediterranean Sea coast.
Power company Renexia, the developer of the project off the Italian coast, awarded the contract for the supply of Senvion’s 3.0M122 turbines, to be installed on monopile foundations in water depths ranging from 3 to 18 metres.
Approximately 33kV will be generated by the wind farm and transformed to 150kV at a newly built onshore substation before going into the country’s electricity grid.
Installation and commissioning of the turbines is expected to take place this year. Senvion will also carry out full maintenance services for five years, with an extension option of up to 25 years.
