Schlumberger unveils latest hyperbolic diamond element drill bit
26 September, 2018
US oilfield services company Schlumberger has launched a new hyperbolic diamond element bit that reduces drilling costs by improving the rate of penetration.
The HyperBlade bit also promises to maintain steering response and directional tracking in soft and plastic rock formations.
Schlumberger’s new technology incorporates elements that cut 20% deeper into rock compared to conventional cutters.
Armoured cutting edges allow it to withstand high-impact transitions while a thicker, precision-moulded diamond table makes the Hyper element tougher and more durable.
