Saudi Arabia to put US$7bn of renewable projects out to tender

The Saudi Arabian Energy Ministry has announced that it will tender approximately 4GW of renewable energy projects worth a collective US$7bn (£5bn) in 2018.
The Kingdom will tender 3.25GW of solar projects and around 800MW of wind across eight developments.
The first round of bidding will take place in Q1 2018 and include 250MW of solar projects. A second round will be held later in the year for 3GW of solar and 800MW of wind projects.
Saudi Arabia aims to increase the share of renewables in the total energy mix within the Kingdom to 9.5GW by 2023.
