Renewable energy to account for over half of electricity in UK by mid-2020s
14 November, 2017
Renewables will make up more than half of electricity generation in the UK and Germany by the mid-2020s, according to a new report.
Published by Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) for Eaton and the Renewable Energy Association (REA), the report also predicts the cost of solar and wind energy will fall by 50% by 2040.
Despite the forecast, the report argues that variable renewable energy generation must be complimented by flexible resources to meet the target.
