New York awards 1.4GW of renewables projects

The Governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, announced yesterday, 12 March, that the state had awarded contracts for 26 renewable energy projects worth a combined total of US$1.4bn (£1bn).
The largest project to be awarded is the 339MW Alle-Cat wind farm, which will be developed by Invenergy.
Other wind projects awarded were the 272MW Baron wind farm and the 121.8MW Bluestone wind development which will feature a 6.2MW storage system.
Twenty-two solar projects with a total capacity of 600MW were also successfully tendered as well as a 3.2MW hydro scheme.
Governor Cuomo stated that the projects would create approximately 3,000 jobs with all plants scheduled to be operational by 2022.
