McDermott lands FEED contract for Australia’s Scarborough field
06 February, 2019
Woodside Energy has awarded McDermott International a contract to carry out front-end engineering and design (FEED) activities for the floating production unit for the Scarborough natural gas development in Australia.
McDermott's centre of excellence in The Hague, the Netherlands, will lead the study and early engineering.
On completion, the contract includes the option to progress to an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract should the project be approved for full development by Woodside and its Scarborough joint venture partners.
The floating production unit will process natural gas, which includes gas separation, dehydration and compression as well as mono ethylene glycol regeneration and water handling. It will be remotely operated.
The Scarborough gas field is located approximately 236 miles off the coast of Western Australia and contains 7.3tn cubic feet of natural gas reserves.
