ExxonMobil continues Guyana exploration
08 January, 2019
Oil and gas supermajor ExxonMobil has started drilling the Haimara-1 exploration well offshore Guyana, the first of two planned wells in January.
The first well, located 19 miles east of the Pluma-1 discovery in the south-east Stabroek Block, is being drilled by the Stena Carron drillship.
The Noble Tom Madden drillship is expected to drill the second well, Tilapia-1, approximately 3 miles west of the Longtail-1 discovery.
Plans are also progressing at the Liza Phase 1 development, which has moved into its peak execution phase ahead of an expected start-up in early 2020.
Drilling of development wells in the Liza field is continuing, while the company is preparing subsea equipment for installation and topside facilities modules are being installed on the Liza Destiny floating, production, storage and offloading vessel in Singapore.
The EIC is organising an overseas delegation to Guyana on 14 January. To find out more about this and the other overseas delegations we run please visit:
