ExxonMobil and SABIC select Texas site for petrochemicals complex
20 April, 2017
US oil and gas major ExxonMobil and Saudi Arabia’s SABIC have selected a site in San Patricio County, Texas for the development of a jointly owned petrochemical facility.
The planned multi-billion dollar complex will be able to produce 1.8m tonnes of ethylene per year.
Construction of the facility will create thousands of jobs, and once operational it will employ 650 full-time workers.
A final investment decision of the project will be taken if the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality grants the required permits.
This project is one of 11 ExxonMobil is undertaking as part of its 10-year, US$20bn (£16bn) ‘growing the Gulf’ initiative.
