Equinor appoints new CEO and President

Norwegian energy giant Equinor has appointed Anders Opedal as its news CEO and President, following the departure of six-year CEO Eldar Sætre.
Opedal, who joined Equinor in 1997 as a petroleum engineer, will move from his position as Executive Vice President - Technology, Projects and Drilling from November 2nd.
According to the company, the new CEO’s remit is to accelerate Equinor’s development as a “broad energy company” and “increase value creation for our shareholders through energy transition”.
Sætre will retire on March 1st next year after joining the company 40 years ago, acting as an advisor in the interim period.
