15 March, 2019
Italian oil major Eni has announced a new gas discovery in the Nour prospect in the Eastern Egyptian Mediterranean.
The discovery was made in the Nour exploration prospect in the Nour North Sinai Concession, approximately 50km north of the Sinai peninsula.
A gas column of 90 metres was found, drilled by semisubmersible vessel the Scarabeo-9 at the Nour-1 New Field Wildcat well at a water depth of 295 metres.
Eni, in participation with Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, owns an operating stake of 40% in the concession alongside BP (25%), Mubadala Petroleum (20%) and Tharwa Petroleum Company (15%).
The company will now start the feasibility studies to accelerate the exploitation of these new resources with existing facilities and infrastructures.
