Amec and Wood Group shareholders agree merger to create UK giant

Wood Group’s £2.2bn takeover of Amec Foster Wheeler is expected to go through in Q4 of this year after shareholders of both firms approved the deal.
99.92% of Amec Foster Wheeler shareholders voted in favour of the acquisition, while an overwhelming majority of 99% of Wood Group shareholders gave the go-ahead.
If the deal is approved by the Competition and Markets Authority, the new company will have a combined workforce of approximately 64,000 people.
The surprise acquisition was first announced in March 2017.
