GE starts work on Hinkley Point C turbine

GE power has announced that it has started to manufacture the first rotor for the ARABELLE™ steam turbine for the 3.2GW Hinkley Point C nuclear plant.
The company is carrying out the work at its Belfort manufacturing plant in France.
As part of the US$1.9bn contract, awarded to GE in 2016, the company will provide two conventional power islands including the ARABELLE steam turbine, generator, and other critical equipment.
Hinkley Point C is the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK in more than two decades.
Set to come online in 2025, once fully operational it will supply more than 3.2GW of power to the National Grid.
