Atlantis identifies France as attractive tidal opportunity
24 April, 2018
Tidal developers Atlantis has touted France as a potential ‘goldmine’ for new tidal energy projects totalling 2GW off the coast of Normandy.
The firm has submitted a strategic plan to the French government outlining 1GW of tidal projects that could be delivered by 2025 and 2GW by 2027.
Atlantis has identified Le Raz Blanchard as a potential location for the projects, which would attract €3.3bn (£2.9bn) of initial investment and create an export market worth €400m (£350m) a year supporting 10,000 jobs.
The investments will create a strong local supply chain to fabricate turbines and perform offshore construction activities, according to the company.
