About this event
Don’t miss out on EIC’s latest cluster series of events as we explore all the major industrial clusters across the UK, from Teesside to Southampton, bringing you the latest project updates, innovations, and supply chain opportunities.
The Solent Cluster is located on the south coast of England and stretches across 50 miles from Heathrow to Bournemouth, including the Isle of Wight. This area is one of the largest industrial areas in the UK, supporting around 90,000 businesses and a £50 billion economy. Home to major trade and commercial hubs such as Southampton and Portsmouth Ports, as well as the UK’s busiest airports, decarbonising the Solent Cluster is crucial in the quest to reach net zero by 2050.
The cluster aims to store up to 10 million tonnes of CO2 per year and reduce its industrial emissions by 90% by 2050. It is home to a collaboration of industry leaders, global organisations, universities, and local governments, working together to create a low carbon future to benefit the local economy, the region and the UK. A range of technologies will be needed to reach decarbonisation goals, including projects in hydrogen, carbon capture and storage (CCS), sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), sustainable marine fuel (SMF) and solar energy.
Join us … to hear about its transformative journey, meet key energy players in this cluster, learn about the opportunities for the UK supply chain and how you can get involved.
