EIC Update with Siemens: Digitalisation in the Energy Sector and Cyber Security Considerations
27 Feb 2018, EIC London, SE1 7TP
Open to: All companies
Digital transformation is becoming increasingly prevalent both in and outside of the energy industries. Digital technology can provide great advantages such as increased productivity and reduced cost, however it can also present some challenges, with businesses concerned about the potential risks of cyber-attacks, fraud and theft.
To examine this relevant subject the EIC is happy to welcome Elgonda la Grange, Director for Digital Solutions from Dresser-Rand and Ian Bramson
Head of Strategic Cyber Solutions at Siemens
to speak at our next EIC Update.
This event will provide an overview of digitalisation in the oil & gas market and explain how Siemens is capitalising on the benefits of digitalisation through Siemens Topsides 4.0. It will then look at emerging trends for cybersecurity in the industry, best practices and learnings from energy organisations around the world and potential solutions to address the risk of Bleeding edge technologies.
EIC sector analysts will then provide a market update; our Upstream analyst will look at oil and gas globally, while our Energy analyst will cover PNR, with a particular focus on Energy Storage.Agenda

Siemens Topsides 4.0 is a digital lifecycle approach to rotating equipment and electrical and automation systems, underpinned by secure communications. It is designed to enable digital project management and manufacturing, virtual testing and commissioning, and delivery of an intelligent “digital twin” of a topsides facility, which can be used by operators for decision-making support and asset optimisation. Topsides 4.0 is more than a new software solution, it is a new business approach. During the presentation, Elgonda La Grange will explain the digital twin concept, the respective digital solutions that comprise this integrated approach, and concrete examples of how Topsides 4.0 can shorten project development cycles, reduce CAPEX and OPEX.
