WHY ABU DHABI?

A gateway between East and West, Abu Dhabi is ideally situated to host an event of ADIPEC’s magnitude. It is becoming the entry point to the growing oil and gas markets of the Arabian Gulf and Middle East, the UAE is one of the world’s top oil producing nations accounting for 8.5% of the world’s proven oil reserves, most of which are located in Abu Dhabi.  The UAE announced in April 2007 that its oil production capacity will increase to 5 million barrels per day by 2014, increasing the UAE’s profile in the region.

Rising energy prices have also put a new emphasis on the UAE’s large natural gas reserves. UAE has stated that it will initially increase production of natural gas by 33% by the end of 2008. The gas business is projected to double within the next few years, and the region has already attracted more than US$5 billion investment in new gas infrastructure and services. UAE holds the fourth largest proven natural gas reserves in the Middle East, with proven natural gas reserves of 214 trillion cubic feet as of January 1, 2007, with some of the reservoirs ranking among the world’s largest. High energy prices have also led to further interest in sour natural gas development from both the majors and newcomers to the UAE. At least five international energy companies submitted bids in April 2007 for giant sour natural gas projects.

WHY ADIPEC?

Officially supported by ADNOC, the Ministry of Energy and the Society of Petroleum Engineers, ADIPEC addresses the business needs of influential executives and policy makers across six continents. It is where billion dollar contracts are made, inspiring more than 12,000 business leaders from 80 countries to come together and identify opportunities, develop partnerships and explore collaborations that help shape the development of the region, its natural resources and future business strategy.

A NEW VENUE

ADIPEC 2008’s dynamic and exciting developments demand a venue that can create a vibrant and truly exceptional experience for the oil and gas industry. So the brand new Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre – a world class exhibition and conference multiplex - will be ADIPEC’s new home in 2008.

Currently under construction, ADNEC will offer ADIPEC 57,000m² of prime exhibition space, dedicated conference areas, more than 30 meeting rooms, 2000m² of food courts and car parking for more than 7.500 vehicles.

The new venue is part of the US$2.17 billion Capital Centre development which will include hotels, a World Trade Centre, bustling outdoor cafes, restaurants and a marina - a thrilling addition to the city’s landscape.
