SONHOE’s interests and capabilities lie in the area of low value, hydro-carbon feed-stock conversion
into high value derivatives with strong market demand and linking to the hydrogen economy.
A new 200,000 bpsd Heavy Oil Upgrader is planned to be developed in the North East of England.
The facility will process heavy, sour and/or acidic crude oils and residues producing diesel, naphtha
and kerosene. The facility will not produce gasoline. Project sanction is targeted for 2009/10 followed
by a four year construction period coming on stream in 13/Q14. At the heart of the facility/process
will be a 110,00 bpsd hydro-cracker using ~500 tpsd of hydrogen. The hydrogen will be supplied from
the gasification of asphaltenes fed to a syngas plant from a 100,00 bpsd SDA unit. Vacuum, rude
and thermal units together with a distillate hydro-treater comprise the remaining processing units of
the facility.
