University to address issues affecting the national climate change and energy agendas in areas such as energy security, control of energy price, power
generating capacity, resource efficiency, waste disposal and pollution control.
The Centre has a number of important projects including a nationally funded initiative by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) to identify next
generation technologies for producing energy from waste. The Centre has a programme of work on the national agenda of energy technology, resource
management and carbon capture and storage.
There is an urgent need to increase development and use low-carbon technologies to meet ambitious EU Renewable energy targets. The future security
of our environment, economy, and our energy supplies depends on making informed decisions now.
